The first half of 2014 brought two very different events for Quest for Education (now Quest for Education Foundation): an evening of music in February and a family walk by the sea in June.
A Mehfil-e-Mosiqi in February
On Saturday 1 February 2014 we held a Fundraising Dinner and Mehfil-e-Mosiqi, an evening of music, at the Kanchans Banqueting Suite in Gants Hill, Ilford. The evening was advertised to begin at 6.30pm, with dinner and live music from two performers, in aid of children in rural Pakistan. Tickets were £40.
Music and food bring people together, and an evening like this lets guests enjoy themselves while supporting the schools run by our partner, the Kashmir Education Foundation (KEF).
Walk4Education in June
On Saturday 21 June 2014 supporters of all ages took part in Walk4Education, which started from Rossetti Lodge on Sea View Road in Birchington, Kent. In bright sunshine, walkers followed a seafront promenade beneath white chalk cliffs and climbed onto the grassy clifftops. Children walked alongside the adults, and our youngest walker earned a well-deserved rest along the way.

Two ways to help
A dinner and a walk are very different, but they share something: each was organised by supporters who wanted to help children in rural Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) go to school.
Where the money goes
Funds raised by QEF support the work of the Kashmir Education Foundation (KEF), which has run schools in the region since 1996. KEF’s schools include Pearl Valley Public School in Rawalakot, its first, established on 14 August 1996; Soan Valley Public School in Bassali, established in May 2005; and Banjosa Valley Public School, established in March 2009. Its college of teacher education at Bassali, which KEF started in 2001, trains women as primary teachers. Read about the schools we support.
Thank you to everyone who took part and donated. If you would like to organise a walk, a dinner or a challenge of your own, find out how to start fundraising.
