Exams, sport and culture at the Joan Atkinson College

30 June 2026 | News

June was a full month at the Joan Atkinson College of Teacher Education in Bassali, where our partner, the Kashmir Education Foundation (KEF), trains young women as primary teachers.

First-semester examinations

From 8 to 10 June, the PGDC-19 group sat their first-semester examinations. The papers were set to test the trainees’ understanding, critical thinking and subject knowledge across their course.

Falcons against Warriors

On 20 June the college held a table tennis and badminton competition between its two teams, the Falcons and the Warriors. The aim was simple: to encourage fitness, teamwork and friendly competition.

Cultural Day

For Cultural Day, trainees dressed in the regional clothes of Pakistan’s provinces and presented displays, music and folk dances. It was a celebration of unity in diversity, and a reminder of the shared identity that brings trainees from different places together.

Why it matters

Teachers who are confident, healthy and proud of where they come from bring that confidence into the classroom. Read why teacher training is the multiplier, or support the college directly.
